yum

Yum! Brands is the world's largest restaurant company in the world in terms of system restaurants with more than 36,000 restaurants in over 110 countries and territories. Their brands include KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Long John Silver's.

The Colonel's secret flavor recipe, with 11 herbs and spices, remains a trade secret. Not so clandestine, however, are spelling errors on the corporate site. I've posted them below for the world to see, and the misspelling of “services,” I must admit, is finger lickin' good!

Here are two of a possible 257 errors:

intial Suggestions: initial, inti al, inti-al, inertial, uncial
 (appears 2 times)

Sevices Suggestions: Se vices, Se-vices, Services, Service's, Devices

According to wordadvisory.com (part of Encarta Webster's Dictionary), “separate” is one of the most commonly misspelled words in the English language, often spelled “seperate” instead. The reason that it’s so often misspelled is because the “uh” sound of separate (and definitely, also often misspelled) can be denoted by a, e, i, o or u. (around, item, edible, done, thumb).

This single sound (“uh”) has caused many a spelling problems for children and adults alike. Luckily, Word will fix up seperate and defanitely for you automatically. But websites? Spellr.us to the rescue!!

Uh…duh.

Here are two of a possible 2,886 errors:

Televison Suggestions: Televising, Television, Televise, Televised, Televises
 (appears 1 times)

seperately Suggestions: separately, desperately, separate, separably, separated

TI

This year marked the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. On July 20, 1969, Armstrong and Aldrin became the first humans to step foot on another celestial body. Today, 8th graders in math class utilize TI calculators to graph linear equations and find the value of x. Just one of these graphing calculators has more technology than NASA scientists used in 1969. Pretty unbelievable, but true.

Texas Instruments is a global manufacturing company. Last time I checked, “global” includes Australia, and though the population of the entire country may be equivalent to the amount of people in Texas alone…hey, we matter, too!

Here are two of a possible 20,496 errors:

miniscule Suggestions: minuscule, minuscules, minuscule's
 (appears 1 times)

Austrailia Suggestions: Australia, Australian, Austral, Australoid, Astral
 (appears 1 times)

Danaher

I'm starting to get the feeling that employees don't often read their online profiles. If I had an online profile, I'd be sure to check it out for accuracy. Post a flattering picture, highlight my educational achievements, provide links for my e-mail, facebook and twitter...then again, who am I? Certainly not a finanial advisor or chariman of a large company.

Danaher products include microscopes that let allow the viewing of objects at 100 nanometers in three dimensions. Grab one of those, stick it front of your website, and have a closer look.

Here are two of a possible 1,114 errors:

Finanial Suggestions: Fina nial, Fina-nial, Financial, Finial, Financially
 (appears 1 times)

Contruction Suggestions: Cont ruction, Cont-ruction, Contraction, Construction, Constriction
